April 2020 Sign-On Letter to Maine's Congressional Delegation
"As representatives of Maine’s public health, medical, labor and immigrant communities, we remain very concerned, however, that our frontline workers still lack both adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) and widespread access to coronavirus testing. One in six confirmed coronavirus cases in Maine are among healthcare workers. But all essential workers are putting their lives on the line without adequate protection – grocery workers, postal workers, delivery people, sanitation workers, care givers, and many more."
Our joint sign-on letter calls for stronger frontline worker protections and more investment in public health in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The letter was signed by Maine AFL-CIO, Physicians for Social Responsibility Maine, Environmental Health Strategy Center, Maine Labor Group on Health, Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, and several Maine doctors and nurses.
