Representative Jessica Fay, D-Raymond, represents House District 66.

Rep. Fay demonstrated exceptional leadership for the health of Maine children and families as the lead sponsor of LD 1433, the Safe Food Packaging Act, which will protect Mainers from toxic PFAS and phthalates by phasing out these dangerous chemicals from food packaging in Maine.

"Keeping toxic chemicals out of our environment and out of our bodies is the reason I sponsored LD 1433. It is a small step in the road to a toxic free future, but an important one," says Rep. Fay. "I learned more than I ever expected working on this bill. This really was a huge team effort and I was only one of the people who contributed, so it is very humbling to be recognized for that work."

Fay’s passion for protecting Maine’s environment stems from time spent at her family’s camp on Sebago Lake in Raymond, where she learned to swim, paddle and sail at a young age. Growing up, Fay was also inspired by family members who worked in the public sector and served on volunteer and elected boards and committees.

In addition to her public service as a Maine legislator, Representative Fay volunteers at the local library, founded an initiative to support community members as they grow older, and also served on the Maine Partnership for Environmental Stewardship Community Advisory Board at St. Joseph’s College of Maine.

Please join us at the Celebration for Our Healthy Future on Thursday, October 17 to recognize Rep. Fay's leadership.
